Welchman and Gale were a small building firm, operating in the Kensington area in the 1860s and 1870s.
Robert Gale lived in Kensington. Thomas Guy Welchman lived in Earl’s Court Road, and later Putney. They both worked as clerks for John Elgar, a developer in the Rutland Gate area, before setting up on their own.
Along with William Willett, Welchman and Gale were the main builders in the Cornwall Gardens area.
